Srinagar, Dec 05 (KNO): National Conference leaders on Wednesday paid tributes to its founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 119th birth anniversary.
According to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah, vice president Omar Abdullah and other senior leaders visited the Qaid Mazar in Hazratbal where they offered Fateha Khawani.
All party leaders, functionaries, and workers gathered to pay homage to Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
At the grave, the two sons of Omar Abdullah including Zahir Abdullah and Zamir Abdullah turned up and offered Fateha to Sheikh Abdullah following which the leaders from the party including Dr Farooq and his son Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited to pay their tributes.
Pertinently, on December 3, National Conference (NC) General Secretary and MLA Khanyar, Ali Mohammad Sagar had called on J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah to reinstate December 5 as a public holiday to honor the birth anniversary of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
Describing Sheikh Abdullah as an unparalleled leader in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, Sagar outlined the need to commemorate his contributions to the region’s social and political landscape—(KNO)
